Thanks to the Mt. Lebanon
Arts Initiative, residents of
thePittsburgh community that
I'm proud to call my home,
learned about, explored, and
shared their 'Happy' with me at two great venues—the Mt. Lebanon
Earth Day celebration and the Mt. Lebanon Public Library. I had a
blast with all of you who joined in the fun and gained lots of great
information that is feeding the book series. I plan to introduce the
first book—Happy Goes for a Walk—in early April (so check back
soon for details). The money I raise will support the making of a second book, which I hope to kickstart later this year. This effort
will fund the printing and distribution of Happy Goes for Walk to public libraries across the country. I hope that you will consider backing this project, which I strongly believe can boost family happiness in meaningful ways!

After hearing so many
compliments about the
Happy shirt I was sporting
at the Mt. Lebanon Earth
Day event, I decided to make
Happy t-shirts available to all who were interested. The date for
the initial promo has passed, but given their popularity I've been
able to set up a site where anyone can order happy t-shirts, hats,
onesies, bags, and mugs in a variety of colors (Pittsburgh black
and gold and Lebo blue and gold are among the favorites!) Check
it out: happythe crab.storenvy.com Thanks for your support!

Although Happy has been
keeping me quite busy lately,
the body of paintings and
drawings I started to develop
over a decade ago continues to
grow. Please feel free to check
out my work at rcnpaintings.com
and see how it is inspiring the
visuals in the Happy books.

As promised, a banner sporting all of the great drawings of Happy
that the local community created is now on display at the Mt.
Lebanon Public Library. Come check it out and see if you can spot
your drawings! It's located on the lower level of the library through
the end of August.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by the Mt. Lebanon Public Library on Sunday, June 8th to learn more about Happy the Crab. It was
great to see so many people bring their awesome drawing skills and imagination to the event. It was also wonderful to see lots of visitors sporting a 'Happy' shirt! I enjoyed teaching visitors of all ages how to sketch their own version of Happy to be included in a community collage that will be featured at the library at the end of the summer. (Don't forget to stop back to see it in August!) Many people also shared their ideas for Happy's future adventures with me because although the first few books are in the works Happy is excited to
keep his adventures going! Keep rockin' the Happy and feel free to shoot me messages with pics and ideas!

It was great seeing lots of visitors at Mt. Lebanon's Earth Day on
Saturday, April 26th. Families learned more about Happy the Crab
and did a little sketching of him. Before they left, visitors snagged
great re-usable tote bags and bookmarks that feature Happy and
invite everyone to join the next big event at the Mt. Lebanon Public
Library in early June. It was wonderful to see lots of people sporting
the bright green bags! If you missed out on the fun you can grab a
bookmark at the Mt. Lebanon Public Library and be sure to share
your happy with me in June!
